The Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs recently received a high-powered delegation from the Right to Access Information Commission (RAIC ) comprising of its Chairman and Information Commissioner Dr. Ibrahim Seaga Shaw,
Affairs, Hon Phillip Tetema Tondoneh said there could be no better time for the RAIC to visit than now when the ministry is going through a management and Functional Review, and believed that the deliberations will be fruitful to both parties.
Minister of Information and Civic Education Hon Chernor Bah has made a firm commitment to push through the repeal of the Archives and Records Management Act 1965, and the enactment of the Archives and Records Bill of 2017, which was reviewed and validated by the RAIC and other stakeholders in 2021 within the first six months of his tenure.
In a significant development, Dr. Ibrahim Seaga Shaw has been reappointed by President Julius Maada Bio to serve as the Chairman and Information Commissioner of the Right to Access Information Commission (RAIC) for another five years, starting from November 21, 2023.
The Right to Access Information Commission (RAIC) on Tuesday 17th October 2023 held a capacity building workshop for Public Information Officers of MDAs, Journalists and Non-State Actors on the recently enacted Right to Access Information Regulations.
