John Kalokoh: PIO (Northern Region)

John Kalokoh was born in Ferry ,Gbonkolenken chiefdom, Tonkolili District, NorthEast Region of Republic of Sierra Leone.

Attended the Seventh Days Adventist`s Primary School Ferry (S.D.A) and Yoni Bana Secondary School Yoni Bana(YSS)where I attained my WASSCE requirement in 2005, I proceeded my tertiary education at the Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology Makeni Campus, where I attained Bachelor in Education degree(B.ED) in Linguistics/Literature in 2017.

I came as a volunteer at the Right to Access Information Commission since 2019 and I had been worked in different capacities  in the Northern region Office Makeni, representing the commission on Radio talk show ,meetings and other assigned duties by the commissioner, till January 2022 I became permanent staff as Public Information Officer at the Northern Region.

I worked for the Ministry of Education on schools survey as Enumerator officer in 2019,I was charged with the responsibility to take details about the schools and pupils with (GPS) operation.

Served as NaCSA volunteer in 2020 with responsibility to do CASH TRANSFER to beneficiaries within Makeni Municipality and social safety net project(SSN), with responsibility to do targeting in the beneficiaries communities in the North-East Region.

I also worked for ministry of Health and sanitation under COVID 19 as public Relation officer in Tonkolili District Noth- East Region 2020-2021.

Served as Mapping Officer Statistics Sierra Leone, I was charged with the responsibility to do mapping in the slated Area of work and collect relevant information about the house, delineation of the housing and population by using the satellite imagery with digital and also served as Supervisor during Census 2021 Midterm population and housing census.

 Duties as Public Information Officer, RAIC

1. Designing, developing and disseminating all outreach materials and activities to target audience and media, including outreach folders and fact sheets, newsletters, brochures, website, photo essays, video and audio components for broadcast, print media etc.

2. Design and present a strategy for implementing public education campaigns that increase awareness of the goals and achievements of the Commission.

3. Establish and maintain systems and processes for logging and recording requests for information received under the Right to Access Information Act.

4. Support public information officers in other public authorities in the processing of freedom of information requests whenever the need arises.

5. Liaise with the relevant public authorities to ensure the collection and collation of accurate reliable and up-to-date information /reports on their state of compliance with their obligations under the RAI Act.

6. Transcribe oral request from public authorities or by persons providing services for them or members of the public to writing for ease of references.

12. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Commission from time to time.
